January 2026
The year has begun at a very busy pace, as it usually does, with everyone raring to go as we step into 2026. For me, the year started with the usual Christmas festivities and some much-needed time spent with my family, whom I don’t often get to see. It was lovely to swim in the ocean and enjoy Summer weather, away from rainy Johannesburg.
One of the highlights of this time was being able to meet up in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) with my best friend from childhood, who lives in New Zealand. It was incredibly special to spend time with her and her family and to celebrate her 50th birthday together. Moments like these are a reminder of how precious relationships are and how important it is to pause and enjoy them.
As we have now entered 2026, as usual, many prophets have begun sharing what they feel the Lord has placed on their hearts for the year ahead. I have intentionally tried not to listen to too many prophetic words, as I myself want to hear directly from the Lord and share what He has placed on my heart on this platform. This is what I felt the Lord was saying to me.
I sensed that 2026 is a continuation of building upon the foundations the Lord has already set. The foundation has already been laid, and this year will be a year of momentum. Momentum is defined as the force of speed of an object in motion, or an increase in the rate of development or progress. Whatever you have trusted the Lord for—whether freedom from addictions, momentum in your business, finances, projects, or healing in your body, mind, and soul—I believe you will begin to see momentum in these areas of your life.
I specifically sensed that momentum will be gained in the South African economy, particularly for businesses. There are businesses that have had to fight to survive—businesses that have made a comeback through blood, sweat, and tears, with a tenacity that many South Africans know well. The Lord says this is the year you will see momentum.
The Lord also urged me to encourage certain people to pursue a health journey—to change lifestyles and habits (and I include myself in this).
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV) reminds us:
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.”
Another strong emphasis I sensed was the call to seek the Lord wholeheartedly.
Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV) says:
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
The Lord says that as you seek Him, He will show Himself to you—no half-hearted measures, but full engagement with Him.
As I continued praying, I saw in the spirit a great deal of confusion over the minds of Christians, and I asked the Lord why. He said, social media. The solution to eliminating this confusion is to know the Word of God—to know your Bible. Be discerning about what you are watching and listening to, and pray for discernment.
John 8:32 (NIV) says:
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
We are to weigh everything up and measure it against the Word of God.
I also saw Christians travelling and crossing borders, as if there is a fresh anointing and grace for those called to go and spread the gospel in other nations. The gospel will continue to be preached across the nations with a sense of urgency. The Lord is making a way and will provide the necessary resources. I saw borders opening, even in places where it has previously seemed almost impossible to reach certain countries.
Zechariah 4:6 (NIV) says:
“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty.
The Lord will anoint you to do greater things than you can imagine—believe it and receive it.
Mark 11:24 (NIV) says:
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
And John 14:12 (NIV) reminds us:
“Whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father
As we step into 2026, my prayer is that we would remain anchored in the Lord, attentive to His voice, and obedient to His leading. May we not rush ahead in our own strength, but move with the momentum of His Spirit, building faithfully on the foundations He has already laid. Let us seek Him wholeheartedly, guard our hearts and minds in His truth, and walk with discernment, courage, and expectancy. I believe this is a year to trust Him deeply, to move forward intentionally, and to testify of His goodness as we see His purposes unfold—individually, in our families, our businesses, and across nations.
